Wintertime...and the livin's easy

...And I'm back! As I've blogged about before, I'm involved in a couple little music groups here in Oz and I'm fortunate enough to even get paid for some gigs! This picture was taken at a birthday party that I played at with the BUMS (ukulele) at South Bank. (I took this photo from where I was sitting at) What a fun time that was! We played a lot of Beatles tunes, and hits from the 60s & 70s. People were dancing, singing along and giving us free wine for the whole 3 hours!! Sorry for the lack of pictures but here are more...
This was an impromptu gig at the Morrison pub. Let me preface this by saying that once I had too much sauvignon blanc, I approached this nice Scottish man who was playing/singing and asked nicely if I could sing along with him since I was really digging the songs he was doing. He gladly obliged and let me sing for about 5 songs! I vaguely remember, but I think we sang "Landslide", "Ticket to Ride" and something by Billy Joel....(thank you, nice Scottish man!) He even invited me back this weekend!
Last night (yes, I'm back to quicker blogging!) Paisley Lane got to sing at the Fete De La Musique. I was so thrilled to see so many of my friends in the audience, like my friend Michelle from Hawaii, and her Aussie partner Michael :)
Lots of places here are "BYO" (bring your own) so these friends of mine showed up with plenty of beverages to share! (Dustin, Melissa, James, Brad)...Laine (Paisley director) even snuck in for a photo op with our fans!
My Canadian mates (and their Aussie wives) also battled the rain to see me sing, and sat right next to a dog who came to hear our music! (Doesn't this dog's eyes look crazy??) Sammy, cute dog, Amber, Marc, Leah & Justin :)
Here was Brian's view in the front row of us singing. We sang several faves like "Moon River", "Embraceable You", "Route 66", and I had a solo in "Lover Man". CLICK HERE to hear our fun version of "Love Will Keep us Together"! :)

Update:Brian is in his last week of working up in Mackay (a town where the most exciting thing are obviously the platypus), and this weekend we are headed to beautiful Fraser Island for a big dirtbiking adventure with lots of his biker mates! It is one of the top holiday destinations in Australia, and is an island made up of sand....we're definitely looking forward to spotting dingos too! Keep an eye out for our blog when we return from there next week. Its been a busy (and cold) wintertime down under! How's the heat treating you all up there, anyway? ;) Till next time..."Go Maroons!!"

Summer, you look so pretty! I know your voice is just as pretty too. I wish I had your guts. I've always had stage fright, which basically ended my singing career in high school, *sigh*. My, you have been busy down under with your friends visiting and trips and what not. I love to read your posts!
