"Lisa, its your birthday...Happy Birthday, Lisa!"

Do all you Americans realize that the Aussies don't really celebrate Halloween? We didn't realize it...until now. Sadly, one of our favorite holidays is merely a small selection of orange pastries, or a tiny section of greeting cards. Brian and I have always enjoyed coming up with creative costumes ("God's gift to women", Asian Disneyland tourist, Price is Right contestants, Where's Waldo) Looks like we'll have to take initiative this year to seek out a pumpkin to carve, force the dress up rule with our mates, and reverse "trick or treat" (meaning take candy to our neighbors door to door.

Oh, and don't forget....they don't celebrate Thanksgiving here.... (Raise your hand if you just had a stupid moment and were surprised by this...?) SO, this means we've actually been seeing Christmas decorations in stores since the beginning of September. (TOO. EARLY.)

I leave you with this festive photo of Lisa and I from last year's Halloween. (She was Smee, I was a lost boy) This weekend marks the 26th anniversary of her mom Betti giving birth to her. As in, her BIRTHDAY!!! Lisa (most of you know her as Lisa Turtle) has been my best mate for 12 years now, and one of the hardest working teachers in the world. (Even though most of her students are taller than her)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We miss you!! Hurry up and come visit!

[Insert song that Bart sings to Lisa here during the Michael Jackson episode]

That is the cutest pic of you two ever. EVER!
SO does Australia have holidays that WE don't? Hopefully there are more of those so you're not so sad about missing ones....

Yeah...its weird because each state has different holidays they celebrate. But the country as a whole celebrates Boxing Day (day after Christmas), the Queen's Birthday (June), Australia Day (January), Anzac Day (April) all in addition to Christmas, New Year's, Valentine's and Easter.

So now you know! :)
