We officially just had the most Aussie-filled weekend since we've been here (besides when we went to go hold koalas) Grab your togs and check out what we were up to in the last 4 days! It all started with a tour of the
Bundaberg Rum distillery! Bundaberg is a city about 3 hours north of Brisbane, and here they produce their world famous rum. Bundaberg rum is a major Aussie icon, and is the most consumed alcohol in Australia. We learned how it was all made, beginning from the local sugar cane fields to sticky molasses....2 years in fermentation later...to a sweet bottle of rum!

Hanging with Bundy, the Bundaberg Rum mascot :)

We really enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it! (and yes, they gave us rum to drink- can you tell?)

Next up was B's birthday barbie! We had it at our place since it was scorching hot outside, and we all sort of huddled around the a/c! (30 degrees that day)

Dustin was the grillmaster for the day

We even got Brian some Dr Peppers just for this! (VERY hard to find in this country)

We played a game of bocce in the park across the street...

...and came back in to the air conditioning immediately afterwards!

Embarassingly, here is B and I with the bottle of rum we bought 2 days prior while at the rum distillery. (Note that it is now an
empty bottle in this photo)

Melsie and Jake stayed back for another one of our famous dance parties!

The next day (Sunday) was my ukulele gig, where I played with the
B.U.M.S. at the Australia Day celebration! We played a 2 hour set, which included songs like "Pearly Shells", "Brown Eyed Girl", "Ukulele Lady", and the crowd favorite-"Rock n roll" by Led Zepplin :)

Summer's faithful fan club (Sean, Jill, Mel, little Casey, Dustin, Nick, Megan, Jake, James and Brad! Irishmen John & Allen came later that day)...with Mel who is my number ONE fan! (she has come to all of my singing and acting gigs)

B learning how to play his first game of lawn bowls!

Watch a clip of the group playing, and me singing
HERE!
Next up....was Australia Day!!!! We headed out with an esky full of ice, beer and our "togs" (swimsuits) to a barbie down the street at the Irishmens' house.

Melsie and Jake listening to the "top 100" countdown on the radio :)

B getting into the Aussie spirit!

Girls vs guys volleyball game while the "snags were on the barbie" (sausages on the grill)

What a festive and amazing weekend! We saw proud Aussies EVERYWHERE, walking down the street waving the Aussie flag yelling "oy oy oy!" and wearing temporary tattoos like we are here :) In the span of our Australia Day weekend we managed to celebrate with 2 irishmen, a pommie, 4 yanks, 4 south africans, 2 kiwis, and only 4 Aussies! Our good times here in Oz will take a short break while we head home to Arizona on Superbowl Sunday! Can't wait to see all of you there! :)
