We have very little to report on our end of the world, as Brian has been sent every Monday-Friday to the exciting (no) exotic (not really) Mackay, Queensland for work. He's on a major government project for this little mining town until the end of June, which means his commute is flying up the 2 hours on Monday mornings, and flying back home on Friday evening. :( This is definitely not ideal for spending time with each other since I work a lot on weekends, but its only temporary. A plus side to this is that B and Dustin are doing some more bushwalking up there this weekend, and word has it they will see heaps of platypi all over the place!!
Meanwhile, as you can probably see by the countdown clock on the right....my BFF Lisa (Turtle) is flying in this weekend!! (FINALLY) I've been working a lot this week so that I can take time off to show her around. (Isn't it strange that we've been here almost a year now?)
A funny happening here in Aussie (that you may have already seen) is the news clip of this crazy girl in Sydney who is currently riding out her 15 minutes of fame around the world. Not only did she make up the story on the spot, she so eloquently defined (cringe) what it means to be a true"bogan" in Australia. Using racist slang, hard to understand dialect and no shame....it reminded us of eye witness statements on news tv in certain parts of the States! (No offense folks, you know its true)
I bid you adieu for now as Brian and I run around busily for the next couple of weeks with work and playing tour guide to Lisa. We'll be sure to post a few pictures here and there of our adventures as we add another crazy Yank to the group for a little while! It has truly been a crazy time in the world as of lately, hasn't it? Between worrrying about N. Korea and the swine flu, we're going to pour up another glass/pint of something bubbly, and toast to good friends coming to visit, family back home, our health and being the lucky American souls to live in Oz! CHEERS!
