Thank you, MLK Jr. and Susan Kozan.

Thank you to both Martin Luther King Jr (for having a dream and thus one day allowing Brian and I to have this interracial relationship) and thanks to Susan Kozan for nurturing little Brian in the womb and giving birth to him on January 20th. Both events have led us to have one pretty exciting 3 day weekend!

Let's see....Saturday was complete with me (Summer) going hiking up South Mountain, getting lost on the way back to the car, ending up at a Muslim mosque, and getting a ride back to my car from a friendly stranger who I talked to, at this very mosque. But enough about me, it was Brian's 24th birthday!! That night, we got dressed up and jetted off to dinner at the fabulous (and fabulously expensive) Roy's Hawaiian Fusion. We had eaten there once before, and just about died of complete joy while barely being able to form words. Saturday evening was no exception. Let me describe what we ate, and you can read this knowing that I am only just beginning to scratch the surface: Lobster potstickers, seared blackened ahi, a bottle of Australian Cabernet, pecan crusted mahi-mahi, edamame, chile roasted and glorious filet mignon, and molten lava chocolate cake. I know there were lots of other things but I can't remember all that food!!! The chef even made a special dessert just for Brian and we were the happiest campers you'd ever seen. All the wait staff were laughing at us because with every plate that came out, we were bursting out into applause. (What can I say? We live to eat!) You must be astonished that I managed to pay for this meal, aren't you?? Let's just say I've known I was going to take him here for his birthday for months! A lot of canned soup and PBJs were eaten through the week to save my money to eat here :0) Well worth the price, though. 4 THUMBS Up, Roy!

After dinner we headed out to Hollywood Alley to catch one of our most favorite local bands, Fred Green. Similar to my last blog, there were many-um-beverages that were consumed and I don't remember many details of the evening to share with all of you. (It must have just been that fun!) We went with the hippie crew from next door, and everyone had a jolly good time. We even ran into Krysta's sister there! (Hey Kara!)

But Sunday during the day Rob and Matt stopped by to take Brian to the Waffle House, and that evening Brian B. and Renee took us to Texas Roadhouse for a birthday dinner! Luckily there was a "balloon artist" on hand to create the lovely balloon hat that you see B wearing in that picture up there. I think it speaks for itself, and for the great time we had at this dinner. (Thanks B & Renee!) Sidenote: they are just about to have their first baby so I will be posting on little Ashten once he arrives :)

Last but certainly not least was a dinner at the Kozan house cooked to order per the birthday boy's wishes: (another) large-and-in-charge-steak that was grilled to perfection, garlic toast, and pineapple upside down cake. (Note: Brian had 3 tremendously large steaks in 3 days= new record and cause of today's stomachache) After another meal fit to feed a king, we listened to John (B's dad) play lots of awesome records on his new record player. Up there you can see a pic of him and Sue dancing to Mr.Frank Sinatra :) Lovely! We stumbled home after 3 straight days of feasting, partying and sleeping, and feeling like we had mastered the art of pure gluttony :0)

THANK YOU to friends and family who celebrated Brian turning 24! Bring on the gray hairs!
