This will be my last post of pictures from the past! It won't be easy to dig through all the pictures I'm about to post, but after this you will be all caught up!!! From now on you can see what we're up to in real time! Good luck with the galleries to follow...
Summer's ukulele society played a gig at the local Bowls club, and though it rained a bit we had a great turnout of friends and strangers and even played our first game of bowls! A great time was had by all and few beers dissappeared in the process.
Another ride with the Reliability Trials Club, almost 800 people came to ride in the mud! Great trails covered a 60 Km loop, and I was knackered by the time I drove home. I'm not sure what was more work, riding for 5 hours or cleaning mud off the bike for 4! Check out the club here: Reliability Trials Club of Brisbane
I was lucky to be invited back for a retry of our first deep sea fishing trip with Dustin and co-worker Heath. Even Logan came all the way from AZ to enjoy the adventure with us. This time the weather was perfect and the fishing was successful! Dustin caught his first ever fish, and we invited our mates over the next night to eat them! The colorful ones definitely looked better than they tasted.
We purchased "Q150" passes which give us unlimited entry to Sea World and a couple of theme parks at the Gold Coast. Sea World was completely awesome, and even though there weren't any killer whales we did get to see pint-sized penguins! The dolphin show was great, the lunch that Summer packed was tasty, and the polar bears were sleepy! A great way to celebrate an amazing 4 years with the love of my life.
This time I headed north accompanied by Dustin for some more 4WD action at Landcruiser Park in Jimna. I was feeling more confident than ever and went a bit harder than I probably should have. Poor Bruce the Hilux lost a front bumper, but in the end made it up the hill successfully! I'm glad we checked out this park, but in the future I think I'll return to The Springs instead.
I headed back to Gheerulla Valley outside of Mapleton by myself to check out some government maintained dirtbike trails. This area is where I went for my first ever backpacking trip, and the dirtbike trails were equally stunning. Though it was a clear and sunny day, the previous 4 days of rain made for a slip and slide all the way up and down the other side of the mountain. Great trails and I can't wait to go back in dry conditions.
Another dirtbiking club, Australian Dirtbike Adventures hosted this ride just up the street from the previous RTCB ride. This time I met up with a co-workers son and his family, and they showed me true blue Aussie hospitality and a little friendly competition. I've got some work to do before I can keep up with these guys. It literally rained the entire day (even on the car ride in) and didn't stop raining until just after the catered, all-you-can eat dinner. The skies cleared and we shared stories under the stars next to a warm campfire. Unfortunately it started raining again about midnight, and Sundays's ride was cancelled entirely. Great group of guys though, I can't wait to go riding with them again!
Yet another different group of dirtbikers, this one was organized by random folks on an internet forum. Dirt Bike World, or DBW is the best place ever to find new riding spots in Australia. This particular ride was organized as a birthday bash, and over 20 riders showed up ready to battle the mud. Our fearless leader Dale took us through some of the deepest mud-bogs to date, and finished us up with snags on the barbie in the parking lot. More top blokes who I sincerely hope to go riding with again in the near future.
