Job update! (from Summer)

Contrary to popular belief, Brian and Summer don't actually do this (above) all day, everyday....!

For those of you who were asking about the job situations, here is a quick update:

- Brian has been working for SureBridge (http://www.surebridge.com.au) since last week. He is on a fulltime, 3 month contract with potential to become sponsored with the company after his contract. He is the main Network/Cisco Engineer, and is assigned to different projects within SureBridges' clients. Right now, he commutes via carpool and bus to get to a few Queensland government buildings (forestry building, library) to help out there. Brian says his work is "boring, but I like the people I work with". He's only into week 2, but things are looking up for now. (*sidenote- the kitchen in his current office stocks a fridge full of beer for Friday afternoons!) Most of his friends at home will be happy to know that he made a kiwi mate who is also into cars, and offers his workshop for B to work on our car with. B is looking forward to going with Nick to some car and motorbike races!

-Summer is exploring a multitude of options for work and hobbies right now. She has been to 2 interviews with non profits, and has learned a lot about this new community through the process. Because both of their work visas are limiting (can only work 6 mos at a time), this is difficult for non profits to contract workers due to the nature of the relationship building/management in the positions. She is still in the process of interviewing with an agency, but they seem to take their sweet time here...once a sponsorship to stay for a few years becomes a reality through B's company (hopefully this fall), then Summer's availability and job prospects heavily increase. Meanwhile, she is reigning CEO of the household and experimenting with new recipes for dinner (no, that's not a joke!). She is also thinking about auditioning for some shows around town so she can make some friends through performance....

Till next blog- cheers, mates! ;)

Beer and bikes--sounds like Brian's all set. Hang in there Summer, I have no doubt you'll catch someone's attention. Performance arts sounds like a lot of fun! Maybe you'll meet someone there who can hook you up with a job. Hows the driving? Thanks for the words of encouragement, i've been getting better and haven't stalled the car since my last post. hooray! Hope we can come visit sometime! -Mona
