And so the Aussie holidays begin...

As we quickly approach Christmas (or "Chrissy" as the Aussies say) and Boxing Day, the weather heats up here in Queensland. We've begun to get a taste for exactly how we will be celebrating our holiday season here....starting with finding the nearest mates with a pool!

Kiwi Nick (randomly met B in an auto parts shop) and his lovely Aussie wife Megan (works in the building next to Brian-small world!) invited us over to their beautiful house to be honorary participants of Nick's "company holiday party". (FYI- Nick runs his own handiman business alone) We wined (went through 4 bottles of wine/bubbly), dined (olive & cheese platter along with roast chicken and veggies), swam and inevitably stayed the night (may I draw your attention to the bottle of tequila in this photo!)

I (Summer) got to feast on these yummy cupcakes at the Paisley Lane holiday tea party last week!

Of course everywhere we go in Aussie to pop in to see mates, there is a "cuppa" to be served up with "bickies" (biscuits). This, or a bottle of "bubblies" usually open and flowing!

And....we leave you with this classy photo of us. What you can't see is the beer and bubbly in our hands, and the fact that we are completely drenched from having just salsa-danced outside in the rain. (Ok, clarification- Summer salsa danced with her friends whilst B watched from the sidelines and got cozy with the bottle shop next door.)

Our "Aussie holiday highlights" are just beginning!~ We've got heaps going on, including more possible camping-in-the-bush adventures from Brian, random singing gigs from Summer, more holiday parties to attend, tickets to see the long awaited Cirque Du Soleil's Dralion next week!!!!....our little mate Casey's 1st birthday party, and going camping on the beach for Christmas and Boxing Day on Moreton Island!!!!!!! Until next time, Cheers, mates!

And now a chance for your feedback: Has anyone back home seen the movie "Australia" yet? It's obviously a big deal here, but what does everyone think of it back home? The all Aussie director-cast-massive budget-filmed in Oz flick is getting mixed reactions from the Aussies here. Brian and I are curious about it but just heard its 3 hours long?!? Post your thoughts about it here!

I am going to go see it! I will let you know! The previews look amazing, but ya, it's 3 hours long! I don't know yet if Jan will stand that and come with me after we dragged him to Twilight. haha! Anyway, great pics! Glad you guys are having a lovely holiday!

Ok I had to report back that I saw Australia last night, and was REALLY let down! People in the movie theater were laughing out loud along with my friend and I.

Pretty to look at? Yes. Great cast and sexy Hugh? Definitely. But CHEESY dialogue and too many moments that seemed like it was Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean or Titanic. Oh, and it was 3 hours.

Go see it and report back on your thoughts!
