Mozzies and sea lice and (platypi?), oh my!

We know you've been waiting! Here's our Aussie Christmas blog post, mates! Here we are, waiting to get on the ferry to the beautiful Moreton Island. (B is grouchy because he is anxious to start his holiday and the ferry was running late)

Dustin, Luke and B are ready and getting impatient...

They were running so behind that they handed out FREE bottles of bubbly! (The Aussies know how to make customers happy)

Hopped the ferry and it was all too exciting for Dustin...
Pulling up to Moreton Island, seeing the view of the "Wrecks"!

No, they didn't all happen to sink together in a line...these retired ships were gutted and placed in this area to create a reef for snorkeling.

At the nearby Tangalooma Resort, they feed wild dolphins each night at dusk! There were two mama dolphins who had the most adorable calfs :) (These pictures were blurry because they swam quickly and it also started to rain a bit)

HEAPS of people/tourists lining up to feed the dolphins. (We couldn't do it because they were all booked out)
Our campsite, B setting up our tent...

With our group of 10 adults and one baby, we had an entire camping complex set up! Complete with a kitchen area and dining table :)

The shore was right outside our front door...here are Jake, Mels and Sean debating on whether to snorkel, kayak, swim or fish.

Melsie covered up, but I managed to get sunburnt :(

One of many cool sealife we got to see on this island!

We can't go to a beach without taking a typical "Brian and Summer on a beach" photo for our collection.

(....And another one.) We've got pix of us on beaches in Cali, Mexico, Hawaii, Florida and now all over Australia!
What a beautiful time we had on Moreton with the Playford Family! We didn't take as many photos as we wanted because I started to get bits of sand and some moisture built up in my camera. (I panicked and didn't capture pictures of the second half of the trip.) We had a gorgeous Christmas day lunch of prawns, salad, plum pudding, ham, pavlovas and bubbly! The only downfall of the experience were the various bugs that kept biting us. We (mainly Summer) had 3 different sprays but the "mozzies" still got us, the sea lice bit Brian in the water, and the march flies were all over our campsite! (When we came home with all these bites, we were told we truly had a typical Aussie Christmas! haha!)

Brian and Dustin stayed back on Boxing Day for another night to hike and camp in a different part of the island, so he will make a blog post on that later on...

Hope everyone had a (warm) Christmas, and have a very safe and happy new year celebration! Next up, Summer is heading off to Melbourne to experience NYE with some of her friends there. Stay tuned for Brian's post and more pictures! :0) Cheers!!
