It seems as though you always crave exactly what you cannot possibly acquire in that moment, isn't it? Take for instance a few weeks ago when I went through a 4 hour phase where I was absolutely positive I'd pay at least $50 for a burrito from Chipotle!! Brian and Dustin and I always seem to bring up comfort foods of home right when we couldn't be eating something more opposite at the time. Luckily for us all that talk about In N Out burger, 4 Peaks, and Buffalo Wild Wings became real when we decided to check out this new place we had heard about through the grapevine- "Blue Smoke BBQ". Friends had mentioned it before, and I noticed some discussion about the place on the American women's message board online.
Brian talked about hot wings for a solid couple of weeks and it seemed here, we hit the Yankee jackpot. (Well, as good as it was going to get) This place was run by American staff, sold Sam Adams beer, and smothered their wings and ribs with some hazardously-fiery sauce! We had a little piece of home with the MASSIVE portions of pulled pork, smoked salmon, potato salad, ribs and hot wings :) Top it all off with a huge, warm brownie and we were some happy Americans! I reckon we'll come back to this restaurant for a 4th of July feast, perhaps? As for this week's update, not much going on except my job is going quite fabulously. I just experienced the joys of my on the job perks this afternoon, as I received an email saying all staff members were getting 2 free tickets to see the tour of Chicago (premiere of all Aussie cast!) next week! I'm pretty thrilled, given one cheap seat ticket for this show would set someone back about $80!
For all you politics nerds, if you didn't get your fix during the USA hoopla of last year, here are some details on the upcoming Queensland state election. I don't follow too much of the politics here, but I do know that voting is compulsory for all citizens, so they will take to the polls this Saturday, state-wide. Current Australian Labor Party"Premier" (like a Governor) Anna Bligh is back to try and regain her title for a second year, whilst opponent (representing the Liberal National Party) Lawrence Springborg is fighting her via some nasty ads currently running all over T.V. It seems pretty heated since whomever takes this role for 2009 is up against a failing economy, a state in dead last in regards to meeting education and health standards, and well...nothing we haven't already heard about in the States.
Hope all is well abroad and around the world!
